Questions
What owners and general contractors ask us
Do you bid every set you receive?
No. We read the set first and tell you whether we are pricing it. If it reaches us too late to price well, we say so rather than send a rough number.
Are you a union contractor?
Yes. We are an IBEW signatory contractor and work under the local agreement. The local number and scale go on the prequalification packet.
What do you send for prequalification?
Our insurance certificates, safety manual, training log, recent OSHA 300A summaries and EMR letters, and a list of projects with contacts. Ask for it with the bid invitation.
Can we be named as additional insured?
Additional insured wording is set up for each contract. Send us your insurance requirements and we will confirm what our carrier can issue.
Can you work nights and weekends?
Yes, when the shutdown plan calls for it. Shift hours and any premium time are in the bid.
Do you take unplanned service calls?
We run planned service agreements for owners whose buildings we built. We do not answer walk-up calls at night. Agreement customers get a dispatch number with its hours written into the agreement.
How do apprentices work on your jobs?
They work under a journeyman, in the ratio the local agreement sets, and never alone on energized equipment.
How far will you travel?
Staffing is from the Pittsburgh shop across the counties on our service-area list. Farther jobs are possible, with travel and lodging priced in the bid.
